Mayfair apartment
The redesign of this Mayfair apartment pays homage to the building’s glamorous Art Deco past, dipping into the era’s design details and then updating them in a contemporary way. In keeping with the building’s high end architecture, materials and textures are key, with sections of bookmatched marble complemented by paler fluting. Softer textures are overlaid with woven wallcoverings and deep velvet, while brass trims come with an antiqued finish that lends an understated gleam. Each space is illuminated by shapely sconces and pendants that recall the elegance of Lalique, Petitot and Sabino, while a modern ice glass chandelier recalls the decadence of Kalmar in the 1960s. Furniture is tailored to fit each room, while the colour palette is equally bespoke, erring towards deepest greens, cognac browns, deep umber and ivory, all enriched by flashes of black and teal. Throughout, textures and colours are subtly repeated, making this home feel calm, cohesive – and ready for a new era of glamorous living done by London Interior Designers.
