Bjorn Norway
Co-founder Albin Berglund scooped Interior Designer of the Year 2020 for the breathtakingly fresh design of this seven-star hotel in the north of Norway, a prime spot for seeing the Northern Lights. The hotel’s unique location in a remote yet verdant landscape
was the starting point for its design. The base palette reflects the nature on its doorstep, referencing the rich shades of wild berries, the deep burgundy of fjord plant life and the spectacular sunsets. Then the serene beauty of the glaciers is echoed in the sculpted folds of the ceiling above the spa’s swimming pool. The design also taps into the heritage of the country, with wood carvings that recall ancient crafts and hearths hewn from precious stone. In the Michelin-starred restaurant, recessed lighting and carefully angled glazing ensure that diners enjoy spectacular views without any glare, while a central fireplace maintains the all-important feeling of hygge.
